What if there was a secret, a secret sauce or pixie dust to getting your perfect life?

Curious as to why everybody else’s kids can act right except yours?
Want to know the secret to finally getting the position at work that’s right for you?
Or start the business that, by the end of the work day, satisfies you?
How about getting the secret sauce on how to attract guys that are into you?
Or finally getting the right amount of pixie dust to sprinkle on your kids to get them to act right like so and so’s kids?
I’ll give you the secret, the secret sauce, the pixie dust to getting your perfect life in a sec. But first, let me tell you how I stumbled into finding it.
I have worked for the same company for almost 17 years and for the most part, have enjoyed every year. I worked in the same department for 14 years until things started to shift around me. The shift made me uneasy so I decided to step out and do something totally different. This change required me to step outside my comfort zone and stretch my mind. There are a few words that come to mind when describing what was happening with me, most are words a lady and her sailor friends would shout over a nice glass of wine (or whatever sailors drink). One word that sticks out, though, is painful. This change was painful.
During this time of change, I added more salt to my own wounds by deciding to buy a new house in a new neighborhood, which meant my daughter would be attending a brand new school. Also, add in the fact that my son was graduating from high school and starting college 5 hours away from our new home.
Yes, when I decide to change something in my life, I do it BIG!
So big that I scheduled a few sessions with a counselor.
The counselor helped me to see that it probably wasn’t a good idea to change so many things at one time.
Fast forward two years after the big change.
I earned two certifications and became the “go to” person in my area of expertise. The direction of the department changed, yet I still enjoyed the work. As a result, I started applying elsewhere and soon grew desperate and out of control. I could not understand how everybody else was getting great jobs and I was not. It was an injustice and it wasn’t fair.
There were days of driving home, wiping tears, I was miserable.
This went on for a while until one day, I prayed and asked God to help me be the best on my team. Helping others learn what was needed in order to be successful on our team helped me to put aside my pain. My prayer to God was “Lord, if this is where you want me then help me be the best I can be.”
I began to concentrate on the work and worked with other teams to clean up our files, to document processes and to train new team members. Approximately 5 months later, I received a message from a manager of a job I had applied for but was turned down. She offered me the job on the spot. Apparently, the person they originally wanted turned them down. Some would call that sloppy seconds but me I call it favor with God. He honored my setting aside my desires, which allowed me to see the bigger picture. Just like someone putting together a jigsaw puzzle (yes, some people still enjoy puzzles!), He holds the puzzle pieces of our lives and at the right time will place a piece where it belongs.
Not sure of what or who you believe in, just telling you how I stumbled onto the secret, the secret sauce, the pixie dust.
You may be thinking that God is the secret, the secret sauce, the pixie dust I mentioned earlier.
Ultimately, yes He is the secret, the secret sauce, the pixie dust. But there is one key instrument He needs in order to get the secret, the secret sauce and pixie dust to work.
That key instrument is YOU.
Ok, before you run off, I can offer you more proof.
I got divorced 9 years ago. I dug deep within myself afterward to make sure that I didn’t inflict any unnecessary angst against any guy I got involved with in the future. Purposely going through each stage of grief was key to my growth. There would have been no other way to attract my Hubs if I had not addressed the grief I had experienced.
What do stories about my job and my love life have to do with the secret, the secret sauce and pixie dust?
Both stories required me to look inward and change myself.
Did you miss it?
I just gave you the secret, the secret sauce, the pixie dust.
It’s looking inward and changing yourself. Sometimes in order to get where you want to go, you have to change directions. And guess what? Sometimes it’s painful.
And no, I didn’t forget to tell you how the secret, the secret sauce and the pixie dust fit into having kids like everybody else’s great kids. I told you that here.
The truth is that there is no such thing as a perfect life. But when you dig deep and look inward, you can get the life that is meant for you.
When was the last time you made a change in your life?
